2e Pubquiz Guess Who, Zwalm

Een quiz waar ik op basis van de playlist van vorig jaar nooit zou durven op afkomen met Los Locos, wegens toch een beetje te licht wegen (helaas figuurlijk, en na de kerstdagen zal dat al helemaal niet meer letterlijk te nemen vallen). Maar: een uitnodiging om gast te spelen bij Bruce Horny, kan je niet weigeren natuurlijk!

Mijn broodheer voor één avond eiste wel vooraf 5 tafelsolopunten van mij en zelfs daarvoor vreesde ik een beetje. Toen ik bij aankomst moest vaststellen dat het thema Hard ook nog gesneuveld was, begon ik al voor een verbanning naar de Goelag te vrezen. Gelukkig bleken de White Punks On Dope zeer medewerkzaam en was mijn persoonlijke opgave na 3 ronden reeds geklaard en kon ik eigenlijk al weer naar huis.

Commentaar geven op een quiz waarvoor je zelf nooit zou voor kiezen, lijkt me niet meteen aangewezen, maar veel valt er sowieso niet over te zeggen: de quiz brengt wat ie belooft - een echte no-nonsens pubquiz met vooral (enkel) luisterfragmenten, muziekjes die de organisatoren graag horen, een bijvraagje links en rechts, en dat tegen een rotvaart (zonder dat je het gevoel had naar te korte fragmenten aan het luisteren te zijn) want blijkbaar 180 fragmenten erdoor gedraaid wat volgens mij niet lukt voor middernacht, maar hier toch wel gepresteerd. Met 2 pauzes dan nog wel, maar die werden echt juist gepast kort gehouden. Scoreverloop doorlopend zichtbaar, in volgorde volgens tussenstand bovendien. Nog niet veel gezien eigenlijk, en je zou denken niet spannend. Maar het was eigenlijk gewoon heel overzichtelijk (en spannend was het sowieso met die paar haasje-overs).

Nog altijd geen Locos volgend jaar, maar wie weet word ik volgend jaar wel opnieuw Horny van deze quiz.

Het ging er spannend aan toe gisteren in de Giraf.
Het eerste deel van de kwis waren The Holly's outstanding ; dan kwam Scary Monsters opzetten waarna het er op het einde toe naar uitzag dat Tequila Overdrive alsnog de oppergaai zou grijpen. Maar de Scary Monsters hadden in de laatste ronde nog een fameuze inhaalbeweging in petto en zo kwam het dat het uiteindelijk op een ex acquo uitdraaide voor de eerste plaats.
Het reglement moest er dus bijgehaald worden en dat zegt dat, in geval van gelijke stand, de ploeg die het meest scoort op de eerste ronde voorrang krijgt op de gelijk scorende ploeg. En zo maakten de Scary Monsters alsnog hun favorietenrol waar.
Ook voor de derde plaats was het nog ongemeen spannend. Sympathie vur den Duvel sprong daar in extremis, en ook al in de laatste ronde, nog over The Holly's.

Kortom, een topquiz, waarbij we als tequila volgend jaar wellicht terug bijzijn.

Ik tel er zeker 10 tot 15, dus 10 op 10 voor onze gastspeler Ludo!
Door omstandigheden ons team herleid tot 2 Horny's en gastspeler speedking, uiteraard leuke avond beleefd als trio met fijne muziek op de achtergrond.

Een tiental punten de nek omgewrongen die we anders altijd oplossen, deed me terugdenken aan de duoquiz onlangs, maar gisteren had het geen enkel belang voor de eindafrekening.

Uitstekende quiz met veel goede muziek en weinig theorie, meer moet dat niet zijn voor mij.

Op naar een 3de editie in de giraf! Bedankt aan de organisatie voor dergelijk werkstuk.

Heerlijke avond vrijdag in Sint-Denijs-Boekel. Genoten van de muziek van het eerste tot het laatste fragment. De samenwerking bij ons aan tafel verliep ook heel goed met na het tweede deel uitzicht op een derde plaats. Maar plots stokte het bij ons met 3 mindere slotrondes als gevolg, en moesten we ons finaal met een 6de plaats content stellen, ver achter de top 5.
Net nog eens die slotrondes overlopen, en ja, ik stel vast dat die mij alvast minder lagen, met nogal wat mij onbekende fragmenten.

Maar zoals gezegd: een absolute topquiz.

Het doet mij heel veel plezier dat "onze" quiz zoveel goede recensies krijgt. Door mijn definitieve verhuis naar Zweden kon ik dit jaar zelfs niet zetelen in de jury. Ik leverde enkel een aantal fragmenten aan, en bij de muziekkeuze was ik helemaal niet betrokken. Maar, gezien het succes, hebben "mijn moaten" mij ook daarvoor niet nodig. Ik hoop wel dat ik ergens als gastspeler kan aantreden tijdens mijn bezoek aan België in maart, begin april volgend jaar. Want het is een hardnekkige microbe, die verwekker van dat muziekquizsyndroom...

Er werd tijdens de kwis al eens geopperd dat er streng verbeterd werd, maar bij nazicht blijkt dat zeker niet het geval. Als er één of twee kernwoorden uit titel of uitvoerder voorkwamen, werd het antwoord goed gerekend.

In elk geval nog een (laat) voor een quiz die alweer niet teleurstelde De scores vallen uiteindelijk hoog uit (>90%), toch werd aan onze tafel elke ronde een ferm potje gediscussieerd, evident was het allerminst... Faut le faire

We werden echt verwend in deze laatste weken van 2013 met enkele topquizzen.

De enige opm. die ik kan verzinnen: in geval van ex aequo zijn er gewoon 2 winnaars. Gedeelde vreugd is dubbele vreugd, met 8 tegelijk naar de prijzentafel gaan is net zo leuk

Merkwaardig... Ik heb dit fragment gevraagd op de eerste individuele quiz in 2006. Toen was het een solo voor Luc Vereecke, die zowel titel als uitvoerder had. Een jaar of zeven later herkennen vijf ploegen het, terwijl toch een aantal mensen van nu ook toen deelnamen.
